Big Ten Announces 2011-12 Conference 1-Plays

June 16, 2011

PARK RIDGE, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference announced Thursday that the Iowa men’s basketball team will play Ohio State, Michigan, Illinois and Michigan State once during the 2011-12 Big Ten schedule. Iowa will face everyone else in league play twice.

The Hawkeyes will host Ohio State, the defending Big Ten champion, and Michigan, while traveling to Illinois and Michigan State. All four squads advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago, and combined to finish 43-29 in the conference.

Iowa will play 13 non-conference games before beginning its conference slate, all in the state of Iowa. The Hawkeyes will play 10 non-league regular season contests on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, two true road games, and one neutral site contest.

In addition to the four single games against Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Illinois, Iowa will play the other seven conference teams (Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin) twice to round out its 18-game conference slate.

Big Ten conference dates and start times will be announced at a later date.

Iowa opens the season Friday, Nov. 11 against Chicago State on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
