Wrestlers Build on Tradition -- Literally

Aug. 10, 2011

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa wrestling team continues to build tradition, literally. As construction continues inside the renovated Carver-Hawkeye Arena, members of the Hawkeye wrestling program, with some help from the UI Crewhawks, moved the new mats into the new Dan Gable Wrestling Complex today.

One of the jewels inside the new Carver-Hawkeye Arena, the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex features a reconstructed practice area, weight training room, locker room, sauna and hydrotherapy pool. The wrestling administrative suite also includes remodeled offices, a conference room, a student-athlete lounge and a video viewing area.

The Hawkeyes host their 2011-12 home opener Nov. 25 when Baker University, Cornell College and Iowa Central Community College visit Carver-Hawkeye Arena for the fourth annual Iowa City Duals. A complete 2011-12 schedule will be announced next week.

Fans interested in purchasing season tickets should contact the UI Athletic Ticket Office at 319/335-9323. Tickets for the 2012 USA Wrestling Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City April 21-22 are also available through the UI Ticket Office or by visiting hawkeyesports.com.
