IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa baseball team held its first official practice today inside the Bubble.

Head coach Jack Dahm and the Hawkeyes are excited about getting started.

“We are very excited about the first day of practice,” said the ninth-year UI head coach. “Our guys have worked extremely hard since the end of fall baseball and are ready for official practices to begin and see where we are at. We have a lot of internal competition for positions which should make our workouts very interesting.”

The team will hold its annual Media Day on Feb. 9 and will open its season at the Big Ten/Big East Challenge, Feb. 17-19 in Tampa, Fla. The Hawkeyes will open play against Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and West Virginia. The Black and Gold faced all three teams last season.

Iowa’s first home game will take place at Duane Banks Field on March 21 against Grand View. The Hawkeyes open Big Ten action March 23-25 at home against Northwestern.
