Aug. 20 – Sophomore Jake Mangler was named to The Prospect League All-Star roster… he batted .320 (81-of-253) for the Hannibal Cavement with 13 doubles, one triple and one home run… he also had 43 runs, 34 RBIs and swiped five bases.

Aug. 10 – Sophomore Eric Toole led the Petersburg Generals in batting average (.317), on base percentage (.393), stolen bases (17) and fielding percentage (1.000)… classmate and Petersburg teammate Jake Yacinich led the Generals in runs scored (29), hits (46), triples (3), hit-by-pitch (10), at-bats (159) and assists (195)… senior Dan Sheppard is batting .278 with one home run and 16 RBI for the Waterloo Bucks… sophomore Andrew Hedrick has made 10 appearances, including nine starts, for the Eau Claire Express, recording a 2.31 ERA… sophomore Nick Day is batting .281 with six home runs and 43 RBI for the Quincy Gems… sophomore Taylor Kaufman finished with a 2-1 record and a 3.89 ERA on the bump for the Hannibal Caveman, while leading the team with a .452 average, to go along with 14 RBI… sophomore Jake Mangler finished with a .320 average for Hannibal… he notched a home run and 34 RBI… sophomore Kris Goodman finished with a .262 average, two long balls and 32 RBI… junior Taylor Zeutenhorst finished with a .247 average and eight RBI for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod League.

Aug. 3 – Nick Day hit for the cycle last night for the Quincy Gems of the Prospect League… the Hawkeye sophomore finished 4-for-5 with seven RBI, leading Quincy to a 19-1 win over Dubois County… he has six home runs and 39 RBI this summer… Hawkeye catcher Anthony Torres, playing for the Palm Springs POWER of the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League, was named to the All-SCCBL team… he was the only catcher named to the postseason team after finishing the summer with a .415 batting average… Torres and Bryan Niedbalski led the POWER to the league title.

July 31 – Eric Toole leads the Petersburg Generals with a .307 batting average, a .383 on base percentage and 15 stolen bases… Jake Yacinich leads the Generals with 29 runs scored and 44 hits… Dan Sheppard tallied a solo home run in Waterloo’s loss to Alexandria on Sunday… he is batting .284 with 12 RBI for the Bucks in the Northwoods League… Nick Day is batting .318 with a home run and four RBI in the last seven days for the Quincy Gems of the Prospect League… Kris Goodman and Jake Mangler have continued their solid seasons with the Hannibal Cavemen of the Prospect League… Goodman is batting .346 with five RBI and three doubles in the last week and Mangler is hitting .407 with five RBI and three doubles as well… Anthony Torres and Bryan Niedbalski helped lead the Palm Springs POWER to the SCCBL title… Torres had two hits and an RBI in the title-clinching victory.

July 16 – Andrew Hedrick has been named a Northwoods League All-Star for the South Division… he ranks fifth in the Northwoods League with a 2.51 ERA in eight starts… Hedrick has struck out 32 batters in 43 innings pitched… Taylor Zeutenhorst, went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday’s game and went 1-for-4 with two RBI Sunday for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod League… he ranks fifth on the team with a .300 batting average… Jake Yacinich is batting .303 and leads the Coastal Plain League with three triples… Eric Toole ranks eighth in the Coastal Plain League with a .330 average… he also holds a 1.000 fielding percentage… Toole finished 4-for-5 with two runs in the leadoff spot for Petersburg Sunday in a 7-6 win over Edenton… Jake Mangler ranks eighth in the Prospect League with a .348 average… he leads Hannibal with 57 hits… Taylor Kaufman, who holds a 2.70 ERA for Hannibal, has made three starts at DH and first base in Hannibal’s last three games… he has hit safely in all three games, going 4-for-9 with a run scored and a double… Nick Day helped lead the Quincy Gems to an 8-7 win over Springfield Saturday with a 2-for-5 performance at the plate… he is batting .270… Bryan Niedbalski and Anthony Torres are still in first place with the Palm Spring POWER at 31-6 overall and 14-4 in conference play… the POWER have clinched a playoff spot… Torres leads the team with a .405 average… he finished 3-for-5 Sunday with an RBI and three runs scored.

July 9 – Jake Mangler has been named to the Prospect League All-Star Team… he has been named the starter at second for the West team… Mangler is batting .345 with a home run and 22 RBI and leads Hannibal with 50 hits… Kris Goodman has 16 RBI for Hannibal… Taylor Kaufman has a 1-0 record for Hannibal, recording a 2.70 ERA in 20.0 innings pitched… Dan Sheppard is batting .279 to help lead the Mankato MoonDogs to first in the North Division of the Northwoods League standings at 31-8 overall… Andrew Hedrick leads the Eau Claire Express with 40.0 innings pitched… he owns a 2.03 ERA to rank second in the Northwoods League in seven starts… Eric Toole is batting .304 and Jake Yacinich is hitting .290 for the Petersburg Generals of the Coastal Plain League… Bryan Niedbalski and Anthony Torres are still in first place with the Palm Spring POWER at 26-6 overall and 12-4 in conference play… Niedbalski is batting .314 with seven RBI and Torres is hitting .371 with 11 RBI.

June 26 – Nick Day has three home runs and 13 RBI through 21 games with the Quincy Gems… Nick Hibbing leads the Quincy Gems with 27.1 innings pitched… Hibbing has an ERA of 3.62 in six games (five starts)… Bryan Niedbalski and Anthony Torres are in first place with the Palm Spring POWER at 15-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play… Andrew Hedrick leads the Eau Claire Express with 28.0 innings pitched… he owns a 1.93 ERA to rank sixth in the Northwoods League in five starts… Dan Sheppard has tallied three home runs and 10 RBI to lead the Mankato MoonDogs to first in the North Division of the Northwoods League standings at 20-7 overall… second team All-Big Ten honoree Sasha Kuebel has appeared in three games for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League, recording an ERA of 4.26 in 6.1 innings pitched… Jake Yacinich leads the Coastal Plain League with three triples and ranks third with 18 runs scored… he is hitting .333 through 22 games and has swiped six bases… fellow Harbor Hawk Eric Toole is batting .300 through 17 games, with a triple, six stolen bases and nine RBI.

June 17 – Catcher Anthony Torres named SCCBL Hitter of the Week. Torres, who is playing for the Palm Springs POWER, batted .500 with a double, two triples, an RBI, stolen base and three runs during the week. He helped lead the POWER to a 4-1 record and currently leads the team with a .500 batting average (9-for-18) through 10 games.
