THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will compete Friday through Sunday at the Wolverine Classic in Ann Arbor, Mich. The University of Michigan will host the tournament at the William Clay Ford Outdoor Courts. Play begins on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. (ET), with Sunday’s action starting at 9 a.m (ET).

THE COMPETITION
In addition to Iowa, the seven-team field includes Arizona State, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Utah and Western Michigan.
FORMAT OF PLAY AT WOLVERINE CLASSIC
Each team will play three rounds of singles and three rounds of doubles. There will be up to eight flights in singles and four flights in doubles per match-up. Points will be allotted for each win based on a decreasing point value from the top fight to the bottom flight (8-1). The school with the highest point total at the end of the weekend will be crowned tournament champion.
SEABORNE POISED FOR HAWKEYE DEBUT
Ruth Seaborne will suit up in black and gold for the first time this weekend at the Wolverine Classic. The junior transfer from Florida State is coming off a summer full of preparation. Seaborne competed at the Junior Championships at Wimbledon, defended her crown in doubles at the British Junior National Championships, and captured the singles title. She was ranked No. 99 it the ITA preseason poll.
GOOD START FOR DOHANICS
Freshman Annette Dohanics excelled in her Hawkeye debut at the Gopher Invitational. Dohanics went 4-0 en route to the Maroon Singles Flight Championship. She also posted a 3-1 doubles mark.
UP NEXT
Hawkeye duo Ruth Seaborne and Shelby Talcott will head to the ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. on Oct. 3 to compete in the doubles tournament.
