IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sales of season tickets to home games of the 2012-13 University of Iowa men’s basketball team are up in all three categories, the UI Athletics Department announced today.

The UI also announced the start of sales of tickets to the general public for Iowa’s game against Northern Iowa in the Hy-Vee Big Four Classic to be played in Des Moines’ Wells Fargo Arena, and the dates it will begin selling two “mini-season packages” and single-game tickets for Iowa’s games against non-conference opponents and Big Ten Conference opponents.

The UI is currently on pace to realize a 10 percent increase in sales of season tickets to the general public. Sales of season tickets to current UI students have already exceeded 2,000 – 300 more than a year ago – while the number of season tickets purchased by current UI faculty and staff has increased modestly.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office will continue accepting orders for season tickets from the general public and UI faculty and staff through the Hawkeyes’ season opener. UI students will have until Dec. 7 when Iowa entertains Iowa State in this year’s annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game to purchase season tickets.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office also made the following announcements:

2012 Black and Gold Basketball Blowout

General admission tickets for the 2012 Black and Gold Basketball Blowout presented by Herky’s Locker Room are currently on sale for $5 at the UI Athletics Ticket Office and online at hawkeyesports.com. UI students and boys and girls high school-aged and younger will be admitted free to this special event scheduled for Friday, Oct. 19, on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Doors to the Arena will open at 7 p.m. with activities including appearances by Fran McCaffery and the UI men’s basketball team and Lisa Bluder and the UI women’s basketball team will begin at 8 p.m.

Iowa vs. Northern Iowa, Hy-Vee Big Four Classic

Fans interested in purchasing tickets in the University of Iowa sections of Wells Fargo Arena for the Hawkeyes’ Dec. 15 date with Northern Iowa – a ticket that also provides access to the Drake-Iowa State game the same day — can place their ticket order online tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 12) and end next Friday, Oct. 19. Fans can make their purchase online at hawkeyesports.com beginning at 8 a.m., over the phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS beginning at 9 a.m., or in person at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena beginning at 9 a.m. Tickets to the 2012 Hy-Vee Big Four Classic range in price from $25 to $70.

Mini-Season Ticket Packages Available Oct. 17

The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting orders for two “mini-season ticket packages” on Oct. 17. Fans can place their ticket order online at hawkeyesports.com beginning at 8 a.m., over the phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS beginning at 9 a.m., or in person at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena beginning at 9 a.m.

The two packages and the total price per package is as follows:

Six-Game Weekday Package ($120 each)

• Monday, Nov. 12 — Central Michigan
• Tuesday, Dec. 4 — South Dakota
• Thursday, Jan. 10 — Michigan State
• Thursday, Jan. 31 — Penn State
• Wednesday, Feb. 27 — Purdue
• Tuesday, Mar. 5 – Illinois

Six-Game Weekend Package ($125 each)

• Friday, Nov. 9 — UT-Pan American
• Saturday, Nov. 17 Gardner Webb
• Friday, Dec. 7 — Iowa State
• Saturday, Dec. 22 — Coppin State
• Saturday, Feb. 9 — Northwestern
• Saturday, Mar. 9 – Nebraska

Single Game Tickets: Non-Conference Games Except Iowa State

The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting orders for single-game tickets to Iowa’s non-conference home games except its game against Iowa State on Oct. 17. Fans can place their ticket order online at hawkeyesports.com beginning at 8 a.m., over the phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS beginning at 9 a.m., or in person at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena beginning at 9 a.m.

Single Game Tickets: Iowa State, Big Ten Conference
(National I-Club, Current Year Season Ticket Customers)

The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting orders for single-game tickets to Iowa’s Big Ten Conference home games and its game against Iowa State from members of the National I-Club and 2012-13 season ticket customers on the schedule noted below. Fans can place their ticket order online at hawkeyesports.com beginning at 8 a.m., over the phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS beginning at 9 a.m., or in person at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena beginning at 9 a.m.

• Monday, Nov. 19 – Kinnick Society, Champions, Golden Hawk
• Tuesday, Nov. 20 – All members of the National I-Club
• Wednesday, Nov. 21 – Current year season ticket customers who are not members of the National I-Club

Single Game Tickets: Iowa State, Big Ten Conference (General Public)

The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting orders for single-game tickets to Iowa’s Big Ten Conference home games and its game against Iowa State from the general public on Nov. 26. Fans can place their ticket order online at hawkeyesports.com beginning at 8 a.m., over the phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS beginning at 9 a.m., or in person at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena beginning at 9 a.m.
