THE SETTING
The Iowa Hawkeyes host Quincy on Sunday in an exhibition contest. Tip-off is slated for 1:05 p.m. on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena (15,400). Sunday’s exhibition will be played as part of a basketball doubleheader; the Iowa women are scheduled to entertain Quincy at approximately 3:35 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for youths and UI students and are good for both Sunday games. UI student ID’s will serve as their tickets; instead of tickets, each student ID will be scanned at the entrance. Free posters and schedule cards will be available. The Hawkeyes open the regular season Friday, Nov. 9, when they host UT-Pan American (8:05 p.m.).

ON THE AIR
Radio: Iowa games are broadcast on the Hawkeye Radio Network. Gary Dolphin handles the play-by-play, along with color commentator Bob Hansen. The network includes more than 40 stations that blanket the state of Iowa and include portions of Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. The Hawkeye Radio Network coverage includes a 60-minute pregame show.
Television: There is no television coverage of Sunday’s exhibition. However, the game will be streamed live on hawkeyesports.com via the BTN Digital Network. Hawkeye All-Access subscribers can watch live video streams of UI events on the BTN Digital Network at no extra charge. Fans can also access the game via video.BTN.com.

SEASON TICKETS AND MINI PACKAGES ON SALE
Hawkeye fans can purchase a season ticket for $320. UI Faculty and staff can purchase tickets for $270, while the price is only $80 for UI students. There are also two mini-season ticket packages. There is a six-game weekday package ($120) and a six-game weekend package ($125). Single-game tickets to home non-conference games, except Iowa State, are also on sale at this time. Fans can purchase tickets at the UI Ticket Office, calling 1-800-IAHAWKS or online at hawkeyesports.com.

IOWA IN EXHIBITIONS
Iowa is 18-1 in exhibition games since the 1999-00 season. The only setback was a 79-76 loss to the Harlem Globetrotters prior to the 2002 season. The Hawkeyes played one exhibition contest in each of the last five seasons.

MARKED IMPROVEMENT IN YEAR TWO
Fran McCaffery guided Iowa to 18 wins (18-17) in his second season as head coach of the Hawkeyes, with four of the 18 victories coming against top 20 opponents. McCaffery is one of only four Big Ten coaches to record four or more wins over ranked opponents, and the only coach to do so with an unranked team McCaffery’s seven-win improvement following his second season, ties Pops Harrison (1943-44) for the fourth best improvement following his second year as Iowa head coach. Steve Alford (2000-01) and Lute Olsen (1975-76) rank first (+9), while George Raveling (1984-85) is third (+8). Furthermore, the seven-win improvement ranked third-best in the Big Ten in 2012 behind Indiana (+12) and Michigan State (+10). Iowa improved by four wins in conference play from 2011 (four) to 2012 (eight), its best improvement since 1994-95. Tom Davis’ 1994 team won five, while his 1995 squad collected nine victories.

SCOUTING QUINCY
? Quincy is an NCAA Division II school and is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Hawks went 18-9 last season and finished third in the GLVC with an 11-7 league record. Quincy returns four starters from last season.
? Quincy played at Notre Dame in an exhibition contest on Monday, falling 111-52. The Hawks were outrebounded by 23 (44-21) and committed 20 turnovers. Geoffrey Hartlieb led Quincy in scoring with nine points. The Hawks shot 33 percent from the field, 27 percent from 3-point range and 89 percent from the foul line in defeat.
? Two Iowans are on Quincy’s roster: sophomore Scott Hahn (Mt. Pleasant) and redshirt freshman Matt Roling (Clive).
? Marty Bell enters his 10th season as the head coach at Quincy. In addition to serving as the men’s basketball head coach, Bell is in his sixth season as the school’s athletic director. Bell has posted a 160-102 record, which is the third-most wins in school history. He has reached the 20-win plateau three times and led the Hawks to four NCAA Division II tournaments, including the school’s first-ever appearance in the Sweet 16 in 2009-10.
? In mid-October, the Hawks traveled to Ontario, Canada and played four exhibition games.

IOWA POSTING BIG WINS
Iowa posted eight wins against teams ranked in the top 100 of the RPI, including four inside the top 25. The Hawkeyes registered victories over Michigan (13), Indiana (17), Dayton (81) and two wins each over Wisconsin (23) and Minnesota (90). The Hawkeyes had four wins over top 25 teams; only Michigan State (seven), Ohio State (seven) and Michigan (five) had more.

WHITE, WOODBURY RECEIVE PRESEASON RECOGNITION
Sophomore Aaron White has been named preseason third team All-Big Ten by the website College Sports Madness, while Adam Woodbury was named by CBSSports.com as a top 30 freshman to make an impact. White, who was named to the 2012 Kyle Macy Freshman All-America team, averaged 11.1 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds a year ago. White’s 389 points rank as the fifth-most by a Hawkeye freshman, while his 199 rebounds rank fourth and 23 blocks rank eighth. Woodbury, is a three-time All-State honoree, and was tabbed MVP of the NBA Top 100 Camp in 2011. The 7-foot-1 center topped 1,000 career points and rebounds in his prep career for Sioux City East High School.

REBOUNDING KEY IN OUTCOMES
In Iowa’s nine wins over Big Ten competition a year ago, it posted a +3.6 rebounding margin advantage. However, in its 11 losses against Big Ten competition, Iowa was outrebounded by 5.1 boards. Overall, Iowa is 13-3 in games this season when having the edge on the glass. The three losses when the Hawkeyes had a positive rebounding margin came on the road at Iowa State and Northwestern, and in the home finale against Northwestern.

HOME COOKIN’
Iowa posted 14 home wins last season (14-6), the most since collecting 14 home victories in 2007. Five of the Hawkeyes’ 14 victories came in league play.

COACHING EXPERIENCE
Fran McCaffery has assembled one of the most experienced coaching staffs in the country. Assistant coaches Kirk Speraw, Sherman Dillard and Andrew Francis have over six decades of combined coaching experience. Furthermore, the entire coaching staff combines for 48 years of head coaching experience. Director of Basketball Operations Jerry Strom is in his 32nd season as a member of the Iowa basketball staff. Additionally, Iowa’s video coordinator, Al Seibert, has 18 years of collegiate coaching experience.

STAT SHEET STUFFER
Since landing a spot in the starting rotation at UNI on Dec. 6, 2011, Roy Devyn Marble’s level of play has been phenomenal. The sophomore averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a starter the last 27 games. Also, he shot 44.6 percent from the field and 72 percent from the foul line as a starter. Marble finished last year on a high note, scoring a career-high 31 points, bolstered by 7-of-8 shooting from 3-point range, and had five rebounds and five assists in Iowa’s NIT second round loss at Oregon. The 31 points was the most ever by a Hawkeye in an NIT game and the most in a postseason game since Ed Horton netted 32 in a double overtime loss to NC State in the second round of the 1989 NCAA Tournament. He amassed a solid assist-to-turnover ratio this season: 126 assists to only 61 turnovers, ranking fifth in the Big Ten (2.1) and 69th nationally. Marble was credited with four assists or more 17 times last season, including collecting six or more four of the last 10 games (six at Penn State, seven vs. Indiana; a career-best eight against Wisconsin and six at Illinois). Marble averaged 5.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and was credited with 41 assists and 21 steals in 31 contests his freshman campaign. He started the last six games of 2010-11. Also, he shot 53 percent from the free throw line (35-of-66). As a sophomore, Marble saw much improved numbers, averaging 11.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and has collected 126 assists and a team-best 53 steals. He started the last 27 contests. From the foul line in 2011-12, the sophomore saw significant improvement, shooting 72 percent (102-of-133).

WELCOME FRESHMEN
Iowa welcomes five newcomers to the fold for 2012-13. The newest Hawkeyes include guards Anthony Clemmons, Pat Ingram and Mike Gesell; forward Kyle Meyer and center Adam Woodbury. The class ranks 25th in the nation by ESPN.com.

Iowa will open the 2012-13 regular season with four consecutive home games. The Hawkeyes will entertain UT-Pan American (Nov. 9); Central Michigan (Nov. 12); Howard (Nov. 15); and Gardner-Webb (Nov. 17).
