Successful Start at UCF Invitational

Jan. 19, 2013

ORLANDO, Florida — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team posted a 5-3 record against Central Florida in singles matches, and finished 2-2 against Florida State in doubles matches in day one of the UCF Invitational.

Hawkeyes Morven McCulloch, Ruth Seaborne, Ellen Silver, and Caitlin Hindmarsh led the Hawkeyes winning both their singles and doubles matches.

“I’m pretty pleased with how we looked today,” said head coach Katie Dougherty. “We competed well coming off a long break. Taking five of eight singles from a good UCF team is a solid start, and we’ll look to improve on it throughout the weekend.”

The Hawkeyes resume competition at the UCF invitational tomorrow at 9 a.m.
