The University of Iowa men’s swimming and diving team hosts Western Illinois in its Senior Night meet Friday inside the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Pool. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m. (CT).

SENIOR NIGHT
Iowa will host its Senior Night before the dual meet to honor its six seniors: Andy Ahlberg, Byron Butler, Jordan Huff, Mitch Taylor, Donny Warren, and Patrick Weigand.
FRESHMAN QUALIFIES FOR NCAA ZONE D DIVING
Iowa’s lone diver freshman Addison Bouschult has posted scores to qualify for the NCAA Zone D Diving meet. The meet will take place in Houston, Texas, on March 11-13.
LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes brought home wins last week when they competed in the Northwestern Invitational on Feb. 1-2. Iowa downed Notre Dame (212.50-155.50) and posted a second win over Missouri State (246-122) — it’s sixth victory of the season.
HUFF ON FIRE
Senior Jordan Huff won four events and posted eight top-three finishes in a pair of Iowa dual victories, its fifth and sixth of the season, at the Northwestern Invitational. The Dubuque, Iowa, native won the 100 free (45.44) and was a member of the winning 800-free (6:38.85), 200-medley (1:28.96) and 400-medley (3:16.74) relays. He also was the runner-up in the 200 free (1:39.09), 200-free relay (1:21.97) and 400-free relay (3:00.29), while finishing third in the 50 free (20.60).

The Hawkeyes dominated the 100 free and 100 breast events in the dual against Northwestern on Jan. 26. Senior Jordan Huff took the victory in the 100 free (45.18), while teammates sophomore Brian Donatelli was second (45.69), and freshman David Ernstsson was third (45.77). Sophomore Korey Schneider finished first in the 100 breast with an NCAA `B’ qualifying time of 55.07. Freshman Roman Trussov placed second in the event (55.29), also posting an NCAA `B’ cut, and junior Andrew Marciniak finished third (55.69).
IN THE RANKINGS
Iowa is ranked 20th in the Collegeswimming.com/CSCAA Coaches Poll that was released Jan. 23. The Hawkeyes are one of seven Big Ten schools in the rankings, along with Michigan (t1), Indiana (8), Ohio State (10), Minnesota (15), Purdue (18), and Penn State (19).
Iowa is also 31th in the Endless Pools/Collegeswimming.com Top-25. The top 25 are ranked according on the basis of each team’s highest-scoring meet over the previous four weeks.
DIVING TO 2 PRS
Freshman diver Addison Boschult posted two personal-best scores in the 1 and 3-meter springboard events in the double-dual against Indiana and Ohio State on Jan. 19. The Omaha, Neb., native finished seventh in the 1-meter (325.13) and ninth in the 3-meter (341.78). Both are NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks. Boschult’s 1-meter score is eighth-best in school history, while the 3-meter ranks ninth.

TRUSSOV COMPETES AT SHORT COURSE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
University of Iowa freshman Roman Trussov posted a pair of top-40 finishes at the Short Course World Championships in Turkey last month. The Kazakhstan native posted a 22nd place finish in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:10.86) and was 39th in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:00.50).
HAWKEYES TAKE DOWN 3 SCHOOL RECORDS AT HAWKEYE INVITATIONAL
Iowa broke three school records during the 2012 Hawkeye Invitational. Freshman Roman Trussov swam to records in the 100 breast and 200 breast, posting times of 53.60 and 1:56.76, respectively. He broke Dragos Agache’s 100 time of 53.77, which had stood since 2007, and teammate Andrew Marciniak’s 200 time of 1:57.88, which was set last season.
Sophomore Grant Betulius broke his own record in the 100 backstroke, touching out in 46.97 seconds. The Naperville, Ill., native is the first Hawkeye back stroker to break the 47-second mark.
NCAA “B” QUALIFYING MARKS
Iowa has posted NCAA “B” cut qualifying times in 10 swimming events and in the platform diving thus far during the 2012-13 season. Senior Jordan Huff (1:37.32) and freshman David Ernstsson (1:37.68) have qualifying times in the 200 free, and junior Manuel Belzer’s time of 4:24.68 is a qualifying standard in the 500 free. Sophomore Grant Betulius (46.97/1:45.64)) and senior Byron Butler (47.62/1:43.97) have times in the 100 and 200 back. Butler also has a “B” time in the 100 fly (47.48). Freshman Roman Trussov (53.60/1:56.76) and junior Andrew Marciniak (54.88/1:59.17) have qualifying marks in the 100 and 200 breast, while sophomore Korey Schneider has `B’ time in the 100 breast (55.07). Junior Tyler Lentz has “B” times in the 200 (1:48.76) and 400 (3:54.36) IM, and the 400 medley relay consisting of Betulius, Trussov, Butler and Huff have a provisional time of 3:12.71. Freshman diver Addison Boschult also has a NCAA Zone Diving qualifying point total in the platform (315.00), 1-meter (325.13) and 3-meter (341.78).
BUTLER JUST OFF SCHOOL RECORD TIMES
Senior Byron Butler ranks second in Iowa history in three events. The New Berlin, Wis., native has posted personal bests in the 100 back (47.62), 200 back (1:43.97) and 100 fly (47.48) as a senior.
BOSCHULT DIVES TO THIRD PLACE FINISH IN PLATFORM
Freshman Addison Boschult dove to a third place finish in the platform competition at the Hawkeye Invitational. Competing in the event for the first time in his career, Boschult finished with a NCAA Zone Diving qualifying score of 315.00. The mark is the third best in school history.
B1G FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Freshman Roman Trussov was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Nov. 6, after posting two first, one second and one fifth place finish in Iowa’s dual meet at 13th-ranked Minnesota on Nov. 2. Trussov took first place in the 100 breast (55.08) and 200 breast (2:00.60) and finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:29.93). Trussov is the first Hawkeye men’s swimmer to receive the honor.
HEAD COACH Marc Long
Marc Long is in his ninth season as head coach for the University of Iowa swimming team. It’s his eighth as head coach of the combined program. During his tenure as head coach of both programs, 54 school records have fallen and 93 Hawkeyes have provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships.
NEXT EVENT
Iowa will travel to Bloomington, Ind., on Feb. 27-March 3 to compete in the Big Ten Championships.
