Hawkeyes Conclude Homestand

UPCOMING ACTION
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team travels to Wisconsin on Friday to take on the Badgers at 2 p.m. at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Hawkeyes will then take on Minnesota in their home finale on Sunday. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. SEABORNE SUPREMACY
In her first season on campus, junior Ruth Seaborne has started every match at the top of Iowa’s lineup. The London, England, native owns a 10-8 record at the No. 1 position and is currently ranked No. 96 in the ITA singles rankings. Seaborne is 4-5 against ranked opponents.

DYNAMIC DUO
Junior Ruth Seaborne and sophomore Morven McCulloch own a 15-5 record at the No. 1 doubles position. Iowa’s top doubles team is ranked No. 46 in the ITA doubles rankings.

FAMILIAR TERRITORY
Head coach Katie Dougherty played for Wisconsin from 1999-2002, lettering all four years. Dougherty finished her career with 45 singles wins. She also earned her way into the national doubles rankings, as high as No. 32 with 45 career doubles victories. Prior to becoming a Hawkeye, Dougherty also served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wisconsin.

BIG TEN IN THE RANKINGS
Entering this weekend, the Hawkeyes have faced 12 ranked opponents, including eight conference foes. The Big Ten has eight teams ranked in the ITA top 75, including Michigan (6), Nebraska (14), Northwestern (16), Purdue (27), Indiana (34), Penn State (43), Illinois (59) and Ohio State (62).

SCOUTING THE BADGERS
Wisconsin has posted a 4-16 overall record, 2-7 in the Big Ten. The team is the young, featuring six freshmen on the roster, and five in the lineup.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GOPHERS
With its 3-6 conference record, Minnesota sits just above Iowa at the No. 9 slot in the Big Ten standings. The Gophers, 9-12 overall, are led by head coach Chuck Merzbacher. Merzbacher is in his first season with Minnesota.

UP NEXT
The Hawkeyes return to action when they compete in the 2013 Women’s Big Ten Championships April 25-28. The tournament will be hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
