IOWA CITY, Iowa — Four current and two former University of Iowa field hockey players will represent the Hawkeyes on the Midwest High Performance circuit this summer.
Junior Dani Hemeon, sophomore Natalie Cafone, former Hawkeye Kathleen McGraw and current UI assistant coach Meghan Beamesderfer will compete at the Midwest Senior High Performance Tournament team that will play in the USA Women’s National Championships from May 22-29 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the 2013 National Team will be selected from the athletes competing.
Hemeon, Cafone, McGraw, junior Corinne Allen and sophomore Isabella Licciardello were named to the Midwest Senior High Performance Squad.
The four current Hawkeyes — Hemeon, Allen, Cafone and Liccardello — will be eligible to be selected to one of four teams to play in the U21 Championship on June 20-25 and be chosen to compete at the Junior World Cup, which begins July 27 in Germany.
