5 Hawkeyes Selected to All-Tourney Team

Sep 1, 2013

STOCKTON, Calif. — Five members of the University of Iowa soccer team — sophomore Hannah Clark, juniors Cloe Lacasse, Melanie Pickert and Caitlin Brown and senior Alex Melin — were selected to the all-tournament team at the Pacific Soccer Classic.

Clark was tabbed as the classic’s goalkeeper after leading the Hawkeyes to shutout victories over UC Davis and Pacific. Clark made six saves during the two matches and had a 0.00 goals against average.

Lacasse scored two of Iowa’s three goals during the weekend — her first two strikes of the season. Melin netted the game-winning goal in the victory over Pacific, while Pickert and Brown were both key members of the Iowa defense that surrendered just 20 shots on the weekend.

The two victories improved Iowa’s record to 4-0 this season and extended its nonconference unbeaten streak to 22 games.

The Hawkeyes will return to action Friday, hosting Iowa State at 7 p.m. (CT) at the Iowa Soccer Complex in the first event of the 2013-14 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. Following the conclusion of the contest, there will be a post-match fireworks show to celebrate the Iowa victory in the 2012-13 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series.
