Lacasse Earns B1G Honor

Nov. 4, 2013

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Junior Cloe Lacasse was selected as the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week following her two-goal performance in the University of Iowa soccer team’s 2-0 victory over Purdue on Nov. 2.

With the Hawkeyes’ Big Ten Tournament hopes on the line, Lacasse gave Iowa an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the 10th minute against the Boilermakers. The Sudbury, Ontario, native then doubled the Hawkeye lead in the 58th minute to notch her first two-goal game of the season and the sixth of her career.

Lacasse leads Iowa in goals (six), assists (seven) and points (19) in 2013.

The Offensive Player of the Week honor is the first of Lacasse’s career and the first for the Hawkeyes since Keli McLaughlin in 2009. Lacasse was twice selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week in 2011.

Iowa finished the regular season with 13 victories, tying the school record for wins in a single season. The Hawkeyes also tallied their second top-five Big Ten finish in three seasons and have won 12 or more games in three-straight seasons.

Iowa returns to action Wednesday facing second-seeded Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament beginning at 1:30 p.m. (CT). The game will be held at the Illinois Soccer Stadium in Champaign, Ill.
