EVANSTON, Illinois — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team completed day two of action at the Wildcat Winter Duals held on the Campus of Northwestern University on Saturday.
After falling to Northwestern’s Veronica Corning on Friday, senior Ruth Seaborne bounced back on Saturday by knocking off Ana Vladutu of DePaul, the No. 52-ranked singles player in the country, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Junior Ellen Silver also notched a win in her singles matchup by defeating DePaul’s Carolin Neumann, 6-0, 6-1.
“All around today was an improvement from yesterday. We competed better, smarter, and played better tennis overall,” said Iowa’s head coach Katie Dougherty. “We are fortunate to have one more day of matches to prepare for next Saturday.”
The Hawkeyes wrap up the final day of competition at the Wildcat Winter Duals tomorrow when they take on the No. 12-ranked Crimson Tide of Alabama. Doubles will begin at 8 a.m. (CT) with singles to follow.
