IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team travels to Des Moines on Wednesday, March 5, for a matchup with the 72nd-ranked Drake Bulldogs at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center beginning at 3 p.m. (CT).

The Hawkeyes are 6-3 on the year and have won three straight, including two consecutive 7-0 victories over UMKC and Chicago State. Juniors Morven McCulloch (6-1) and Shelby Talcott (7-1) lead the way for Iowa in singles matches.

Drake is currently on a seven game winning streak, posting a 7-1 record overall. Their only blemish came against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in their home opener. Iowa owns the series between the two going 29-5 over the past 37 years. The two schools recently met this past fall on October 25 at the Drake Jamboree.

“Drake is on a roll right now with wins over Wisconsin and Nebraska,” said UI head coach Katie Dougherty. “This will be a good test for us on the road against a strong team. We’ve got momentum of our own going into the match and look forward to a great instate battle.”
