NCAA Qualifiers to be announced Wednesday

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The NCAA announced Tuesday that the 330 qualifiers for the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships will be systematically rolled out beginning at 12 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, March 12.

The list of the 33 participants for each weight class will be released in alphabetical order on NCAA.com beginning at 12 p.m. (CT) with the 285-pound qualifiers. Weight classes will be revealed in descending order every 30 minutes until the final 125-pound participants are announced at approximately 5 p.m. (CT).

Fans can follow the selections on the NCAA Facebook account and via Twitter @NCAAWrestling. Status updates linking the list of qualifiers will be posted the minute the latest weight class has been finalized.

Once all 330 participants have been announced fans can visit NCAA.com at 5 p.m. (CT) to watch the NCAA Division I Wrestling selection show reveal the seeds and brackets for each weight class, and announce the match order for Saturday night’s NCAA finals.

Iowa has nine automatic qualifiers in the championship field. Sophomore Brody Grothus, who is 23-10 overall with four wins over top 10 opponents, is an at-large consideration for the 149-pound bracket.

The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships are March 20-22 in Oklahoma City. Chesapeake Energy Arena hosts the three-day event.
