WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team concludes their second tournament of the fall season with the Purdue Invitational.
“I think we took steps forward this weekend. We were making a lot more quality balls, competing well, and making adjustments,” said UI head coach Katie Dougherty.
Natalie Looney, Adorabol Huckleby and Zoe Douglas all won their final singles matches at the Purdue Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Looney won 6-3, 6-1 over Mississippi State’s Caroline Kelly. Huckleby defeated Notre Dame’s Darby Mountford 6-1, 6-4. Douglas defeated Louisville’s Sena Suswam, winning 7-5, 6-4 to finish off the tournament. The Hawkeyes went 3-1 on singles matches to conclude the tournament on Sunday.
“Overall I’m very pleased with the group that traveled and thought they did a very good job building on last weekend,” said Dougherty. “Adorabol in particular has made huge strides these last couple of weeks and am happy to see her hard work paying off and the momentum she has gained.”
Hawkeyes return to action on Oct. 15 at the ITA Central Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
