IOWA CITY, Iowa — Adorabol Huckleby, a native of Detroit, Michigan has made her freshman debut with the Hawkeyes during the first two tournaments of the fall season. Huckleby was ranked as a four-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net in high school, and was the 92nd ranked recruit in the nation, as well as the No. 2 ranked prospect in the state of Michigan. Hawkeyesports.com caught up with the freshman to talk about becoming a Hawkeye and the fall season.
What was the main reason for choosing Iowa?
“When I took my official visit. I really liked the town and the coaches. The team was really nice. I knew I wanted to come here really early.”
How have you adjusted to Iowa City life?
“It was really easy, I live in a bigger city and it was really easy to get to know all the streets and find my way around. I also have really good teammates so it’s been an easy adjustment.”
How have your teammates helped you with the transition?
“They have given me advice on when to arrive at practice, which buses to take, and the best times to take classes.”
What is your favorite thing about Iowa City?
“There is food everywhere and I love that.”
What are your goals going into your first season as a Hawkeye?
“To do my best, cheer my team on, because we deserve it and work really hard.”
What do you typically do before a match? Routine?
“I like dynamic warm-ups, getting warm and getting blood flow while listening to music, while getting focused.”
What is your favorite food?
“I love corn.”
What is your favorite mobile app?
“I love shopping apps.”
What is your favorite hobby or thing to do besides tennis and school?
“I enjoy writing.”
What is your favorite holiday?
“Christmas”
