Burak Named Academic All-District

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa wrestler Nathan Burak has been named to the 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-District team and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors. The award, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Burak, a senior from Colorado Springs, Colorado, earned a 3.83 grade point average while majoring in health and human physiology. He is a three-time academic All-Big Ten honoree and has been named to the UI Dean’s list six times. He is also a three-time member of the NWCA All-Academic team.

Burak placed fourth at the 2016 NCAA Championships at 197 pounds, and was runner-up at the Big Ten Championships. He won a Midlands title and a career-high 27 matches this season, including eight wins against top 20 opponents.

The 2015-16 Academic All-America team will be announced Thursday, June 9.
