IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa men’s basketball season ticket holders can order tickets for Iowa’s first round National Invitation Tournament (NIT) game immediately. The Hawkeyes, a No. 1 seed, will host eighth-seeded South Dakota (22-11) of the Summit League on Wednesday, March 15, at 6 p.m. (CT). The game will be televised on ESPN2.
Season ticket holders and I-Club contributors are able to order NIT tickets prior to the general public, from now through noon (CT) on Monday, March 13. A limit of 10 tickets per household has been established at the regular rate of $20 for adults and $5 for UI students and youth tickets.
All fans will be able to order NIT tickets after 1 p.m. (CT) on March 13. Tickets will be available during normal business hours at the Athletic Ticket Office inside the Dale & Marilyn Howard Family Pavilion on the north side of Carver-Hawkeye Arena, over the phone at 1-800-IA-HAWKS, or online at hawkeyesports.com/basketballtickets. The ticket office windows are open daily from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. Parking will be $5, and only Lot 46 will be reserved.
Iowa enters the NIT with an 18-14 overall record, finishing in a tie for fifth place in the Big Ten standings. The Hawkeyes are led by senior guard Peter Jok, averaging 19.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. South Dakota lost in the Summit League tournament to South Dakota State (74-71). South Dakota won the Summit League regular season title and had won seven straight games before the tournament loss. Iowa is 1-0 versus South Dakota, recording an 87-63 win early in the 2012-13 season in Iowa City. The winner of the South Dakota at Iowa game will meet the winner of a first round contest that has fifth-seeded Fresno State playing at No. 4 seed TCU.
Fans are encouraged to select the “Print at Home” ticket option, due to the short turnaround before Wednesday’s contest.
