QUOTING @SashaSchmid
“This is our last non-conference match, and FIU is a great team. This will be a great opportunity for us to learn and grow. We are probably going to be outside so we are going to have to make that adjustment. After spring break will we be settling into Big Ten play and hopefully have a lot of confidence.”

TAKING ON THE PANTHERS
The Panthers enter the weekend with a 12-1 overall record and ranked No. 24 in the ITA National Team Rankings. Florida International is currently on a 10-match win streak. The only loss the Panther’s suffered came against top-ranked Florida (4-0). Since then, the Panthers have defeated No. 46 UNLV (5-2) and No. 49 VCU (4-0).

38006SENIOR LEADERS
Seniors Aimee Tarun and Natalie Looney remain undefeated in singles play. Tarun picked up a pair of wins at the No. 5 position last weekend to improve to 7-0 in singles. Looney also remains undefeated with a 2-0 singles record. Tarun and Looney have each posted a 7-2 doubles record this season.

HAWKEYES AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS
No. 24 Florida International marks the second ranked opponent on Iowa’s schedule. No. 43 Maryland was the first ranked opponent Iowa faced this season. The Hawkeyes suffered their first loss of the season to the Terrapins, 5-2, in College Park, Maryland. The last time Iowa defeated a ranked opponent was in 2014 when they beat No. 42 Illinois, 4-3, in Champaign, Illinois.

VAN HEUVELEN NAMED B1G ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Elise van Heuvelen was named women’s tennis Big Ten Athlete of the Week by the league office Tuesday, Feb. 28. She picked up a pair of victories at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions against Evansville and Western Illinois to help the Hawkeyes improve to 9-0, their second best start in program history.
