PARIS, France — University of Iowa All-American Thomas Gilman will wrestle for a gold medal Friday at noon (CT) against Japan’s Yuki Takahashi at the 2017 UWW World Championships in Paris, France.
 
Gilman was 4-0 Friday morning in the 57 kg bracket, winning one match by technical fall and three more by decision, including a 5-4 win over North Korea’s Hakjin Jong in the semifinals. The finals are streamed live at trackwrestling.com.

    Including Gilman, 20 Hawkeyes have combined for 47 World Championships appearances. Gilman could become the fifth to win a gold medal. Previous winners include Terry Brands (1993, 1995), Tom Brands (1993), Chris Campbell (1981), and Bill Zadick (2006).
