MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — University of Iowa junior Adorabol Huckleby and freshman Yufei Long won their quarterfinal doubles match, 8-4, on Friday at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Huckleby and Long, the No. 3 seed in doubles, will play in the semifinals Saturday at 4 p.m. (CT).
Long also advanced to the semifinals of the singles bracket. She advanced through the round of 32 with a straight set win over Labina Petrovska, 6-1, 6-2, and moved onto the semifinals with a win over Tamuna Kutubidze, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 (2). She will play Saturday at 9 a.m.
Huckleby advanced through the round of 32 with a three-set win, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, but fell to Miranda Ramirez, 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
Danielle Burich fell to Tess Herder from Drake in the round of 32, and will play Maryann Rompf in the consolation bracket Saturday at 11 a.m.
The singles champion will earn a wild card berth into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Tournament in Indian Wells, Calif.
