ST. CHARLES, Missouri – University of Iowa freshman Jacob Warner defeated two-time All-American Willie Miklus of Missouri by 16-7 major decision in the finals of the 197-pound bracket at the Lindenwood Open on Saturday in St. Charles, Missouri.
Warner won four matches en route to his second tournament title in as many weeks. He defeated two Oklahoma Sooners by decision and won by technical fall against West Virginia’s Hunter DeLong in the quarterfinals.
Warner won his title in the open division. Connor Corbin, another Hawkeye 197-pounder, won a title in the freshman-sophomore Black Division. Corbin won five matches Saturday, including one by fall.
Complete results from the Lindenwood Open are below. The Hawkeyes return to the mat Friday, Nov. 24, hosting Rider at 7 p.m. (CT) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
