IOWA CITY, Iowa — One day after earning weekly Big Ten Conference honors, University of Iowa freshman Spencer Lee has been named NCAA Wrestler of the Week.
The NCAA Wrestler of the Week is determined by a fan vote at @NCAAWrestling.
Lee, ranked No. 3 in the country at 125 pounds, upset top-rated Nathan Tomasello, 3-2, last week at Ohio State.
Lee is 9-1 overall, 3-0 since removing his redshirt, and has three wins over top-10 opponents.
The NCAA and Big Ten Conference weekly honors are the first of Lee’s career. He is the third Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors this season. Michael Kemerer won the award Nov. 28, and Alex Marinelli won the award on Dec. 12.
