Iowa Faces Missouri State on Wednesday in KC

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa baseball team will travel to Kansas City for a neutral site matchup against Missouri State on Wednesday afternoon at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy.  First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. (CT).
 
Admission to the game is free, but fans are encouraged to bring new youth baseball/softball equipment to donate to the academy.  Capacity for the venue is 2,000.
 
The Hawkeyes are 8-5 overall after getting swept during their three-game road trip at 23rd-ranked UNLV.  Missouri State is also 8-5 after taking two of three games against No. 30 Arkansas State last weekend. The Bears face Oral Roberts on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Missouri State leads the all-time series against Iowa, 39-15.  The two teams last met in 2016 when the Bears swept a three-game series in Springfield, winning 4-1, 5-4, and 8-6.  Missouri State also eliminated Iowa from NCAA Regional play in 2015.
 
The Hawkeyes will send freshman Jack Dreyer to the mound for his first career start.  The Johnston, Iowa, native is 0-0 with a 6.23 ERA in four appearances this season. He has allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits over 4 1/3 innings and he has six strikeouts to four walks.
 
Wednesday’s game can be heard on Hawkeye All-Access and select stations around the state with Zach Mackey on the call. 
 
Following the midweek matchup, Iowa returns to Duane Banks Field for a three-game homestand against Evansville.  First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. on Friday.
