7 Hawkeyes Head to 2018 U.S. Open Wrestling Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Seven University of Iowa wrestlers travel to Las Vegas this week to compete at the 2018 Marine Corps U.S. Open on Friday and Saturday. The UWW Junior National Championships is hosted by the South Point Hotel and Convention Center and features United States wrestlers in the United World Wrestling 17-20 year-old age group.  
 
Hawkeyes in the tournament field include sophomore Jeremiah Moody (74 kg), and true freshmen Zach Axmear (74 kg), Connor Corbin (92 kg), Aaron Costello (125 kg), Max Murin (65 kg), Jacob Warner (92 kg), and Myles Wilson (86 kg).
 
Competition begins Friday at 11 a.m. (CT). Semifinals and medal rounds begin Saturday at 11 a.m., and the finals begin Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
 
The top eight freestyle finishers in each weight class earn a berth at the 2018 UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials in Rochester, Minnesota, on May 18-19. The Junior World Championships are August 17-23 in Trvava, Slovakia.
