5 Hawkeyes Compete for Spots on Junior World Team

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Five University of Iowa wrestlers compete this weekend at the 2018 UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials in Rochester, Minnesota.
 
Alex Marinelli, Jeremiah Moody, Max Murin, Jacob Warner, and Myles Wilson compete for a spot on the U.S. Junior World team on Saturday and Sunday at the RCTC Regional Sports Center.
 
Moody and Warner are automatically in the best-of-three finals by virtue of their national titles at the U.S. Open on April 28. Moody is a 74 kg finalist and Warner is a 92 kg finalist.
 
Marinelli, Murin, and Wilson need to win their respective challenge tournaments for a spot in the best-of-three finals. Murin and Wilson advanced to the trials with top eight finishes at the U.S. Open. Murin placed runner-up at 65 kg, and Wilson placed eighth at 86 kg.
 
Marinelli earned a trials berth with his All-America placement at the 2018 NCAA Championships. He will compete in the 74 kg bracket.
