IOWA CITY, Iowa – The ninth-ranked University of Iowa field hockey team will take on No. 7 Penn State in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 28, in University Park, Pennsylvania. The game is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) on BTN.

At 12-5 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten, the Hawkeyes tied for fourth in the conference with No. 13 Rutgers and No. 21 Ohio State. Due to a three-team tiebreaker, the Hawkeyes are seeded sixth and will face third-seeded Penn State.

The Hawkeyes defeated Penn State, 3-2, at Grant Field on Oct. 12, behind Maddy Murphy’s first career hat trick. This is the second straight season the Hawkeyes and Nittany Lions have met in the quarterfinals.

Iowa has won five Big Ten Tournament titles (1981, 1994, 2006, 2007, 2008) in program history, including three straight from 2006-08. The Hawkeyes are 29-20 all-time in the conference tournament.

The semifinals and Big Ten Championship will take place in Evanston, Illinois, at Lakeside Field on Friday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 4.
