Austin DeSanto Named Co-B1G Wrestler of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Austin DeSanto has been named Big Ten Conference Co-Wrestler of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
 
DeSanto climbed to No. 4 in the national rankings following a 6-4 decision against No. 3 Nick Suriano on Jan. 18. DeSanto erased a 3-0 deficit and scored the winning takedown with 1.5 seconds left. It was his second straight win over a top-six opponent. He is 12-1 overall and has won eight straight.
 
The Big Ten Conference weekly honor is the first of DeSanto’s carerer, and the second for Iowa this season. Kaleb Young earned the honor Nov. 27.
 
DeSanto shares the award with Indiana’s Jake Danishek.
