IOWA CITY, Iowa — Senior Zeb Adreon’s 2-run, first-inning home run propelled the Gold team to a 3-0 victory and Black & Gold Series sweep Thursday afternoon at Duane Banks Field. The Gold team won Tuesday’s opening game, 9-1.

The Gold team added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, courtesy of a solo home run from junior Izaya Fullard.  It was the team’s fifth hit of the game.

Four pitchers shut out the Black team in the contest.  Junior Jack Dreyer started and fanned one in the first before giving way to junior Cam Baumann.  The southpaw scattered two hits and fanned six over four innings before sophomores Drew Irvine and Jack Guzek got the final six outs.

Freshman Peyton Williams led the Black squad, collecting two of the team’s seven hits.  Junior Trenton Wallace allowed two runs on four hits over 3 1/3 in the start and senior Grant Leonard had four strikeouts in two innings.

The Hawkeyes conclude the fall season with a 3-0 record.  The spring schedule will be released at a later date.
