CORALVILLE, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Jaydin Eierman won the 65 kg title Saturday at the 2021 UWW Senior Nationals tournament at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
Eierman defeated Domonick Demas, 8-4, in the finals to wrap a 4-0 record in the tournament. By virtue of his top five finish, Eierman is one of three Hawkeyes to earn a spot in that 2021 U.S. Senior World Team Trials, which will be announced at a later date.
Tony Cassioppi placed runner-up at 125 kg and Pat Lugo placed third at 65 kg
IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa All-Americans Tony Cassioppi and Jaydin Eierman headline a group of 11 current and former Hawkeyes set to compete this weekend at the 2021 UWW Junior and Senior Nationals at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
Cassioppi, Eierman, and Hawkeye Wrestling Club members Jeremiah Moody and Pat Lugo compete in the senior division. The top five place-winners at each weight class in the senior division qualify for the 2021 U.S. Senior World Team Trials, which will be announced at a later date.
Seven Hawkeyes will compete in the junior division. The winners in each junior division weight class will represent Team USA at the UWW Junior World Championships in Ufa, Russia, on Aug. 16-22.
The senior division is contested on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. (CT) and concluding with the finals at 7 p.m. The junior division begins Saturday at 10 a.m. and wrestles through the semifinals starting at 4:30 p.m. Junior division placement matches begin Sunday at 10 a.m. and the best 2-of-3 finals begin at 12 p.m.
