Hawkeyes Set to Return to Cancun Challenge

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa women’s basketball returns to the 2021 Women’s Cancun Challenge, held at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula. It will be the Hawkeyes’ fifth appearance in the tournament (2007, 2010, 2013, 2016).

Iowa, who is 7-2 all-time at the tournament including the 2013 tournament title, will compete in the Riviera Division against Seton Hall on Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. (CT) and USC on Nov.26 at 5:30 p.m. (CT). All tournament games will be played in the modified ballroom and live streamed on FloHoops.

“We fully expected the Women’s Cancun Challenge to attract its usual standout field for 2021; it was just a matter of moving past the pandemic obstacles to get the schedules assembled,” event director for the Cancun Challenge Sarah Molina said. “Teams and fans are energized with the return to a normal college basketball season, and this event will fulfill their expectations of strong competition and a memorable experience up and down the roster.

The tournament features Iowa, Seton Hall, USC, Arizona State, Baylor, Fordham, Houston, UCF, Idaho State, and Toledo.

Seating is limited for the event, and all fans should book land travel packages through Triple Crown Sports for admission into games in Mexico.
