IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s tennis All-American Alexa Noel has earned an invitation to compete at the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California, beginning November 4. Noel qualified by virtue of being a finalist at the All-American Tournament earlier this month. The sophomore becomes the first player in program history to compete in this premier tournament.
“Another historical milestone for our program,” said head coach Sasha Schmid. “This is a huge honor for her and for our program. We are excited for her. She is looking forward to another opportunity to get a national title.”
The ITA National Fall Championships features 32 of the nation’s top women’s collegiate players. The selection criteria consist of 24 Regional Selections (two Players per ITA region), four All-American Semi-Finalists, two ITA Wild Cards, one Milwaukee Tennis classic Wild Card, and one ITA Cup Wild Card.
Seeding will be based on the UTR weekly average as of Nov. 1. For more tournament information, visit: https://colleges.wearecollegetennis.com/Competitions/ITA/Tournaments/Overview/3c0d3bf7-1ea0-4314-9798-02fe691dd86e.
