Hawkeyes Begin Big Ten Championships

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team opened competition at the Big Ten Championships on Wednesday at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center.

“Both of our relays performed very well to start the Big Ten Championships,” said head coach Nathan Mundt. “We swam season-best performances, which is an excellent way to kick off the meet. We’re excited for the next few days ahead.”

Opening Night commenced with the 200-medley relay. Iowa’s quartet of juniors Zoe Pawloski, Aleksandra Olesiak, Kennedy Gilbertson, and sophomore Maddie Black placed 12th with their season-best performance of 1:43.59.

Juniors Payton Lange, Anna Brooker, and Georgia Clark joined sophomore Anna Pfeiffer in the 800-free relay, where they swam a season-best 7:34.13 to place 12th.

The Hawkeyes enter Thursday’s preliminary events with a team score of 60 points.

Thursday’s events include the 500-free, 200-IM, 50-free, 1-meter dive, and the 400-medley relay beginning at 10 am (CT).
