IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes Upper Iowa to Duane Banks Field on Tuesday for a midweek matchup at 4:05 p.m. (CT). Admission is $2.
Iowa brings a 29-10 overall record into the contest, while Upper Iowa is 15-23 overall.
Iowa head coach Rick Heller spent 12 years as the head coach at Upper Iowa (1987-99), recording a 291-194-3 overall record and being named the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year four times. As a player at Upper Iowa from 1982-86, he was a four-year starter at shortstop, and he also lettered in football and basketball. He is a member of the Upper Iowa Athletic Hall of Fame.
The Peacocks hold series wins over Bemidji State, University of Minnesota Duluth and Concordia University, St. Paul.
As a team, Upper Iowa is hitting .258 and its pitching staff has a 6.65 ERA. They are led by Ryan Hull with a .331 batting average, and Ethan Sawyer with 33 RBIs.
Last week, the Hawkeyes split their midweek contests falling to UIC but defeating Bradley before sweeping the three-game series over Nebraska. Overall, the Hawkeyes are hitting .287 as a team, while averaging 8.17 runs per game. The Iowa pitching staff has a 4.23 ERA.
Keaton Anthony leads the team with a .372 batting average. Sam Hojnar leads the team with 40 RBIs followed by Kyle Huckstorf with 38.
Keaton Anthony leads the team with eight home runs and Huckstorf has 11 stolen bases. Anthony ranks second in the country with 21 doubles and second in doubles per game (0.54).
