Boe Elevated to Assistant Coach

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa head baseball coach Rick Heller has announced the elevation of Mitch Boe to assistant coach for the 2023-24 season. Boe served as the volunteer assistant coach for the 2023 season.

The Hawkeyes finished the 2023 season with 44 wins, tying the program record. They finished third in the Big Ten with a 15-8 record, and advanced to the Big Ten Tournament championship game. Iowa made its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2017, winning two games at the Terre Haute Regional. In 2023, Boe served as the team’s outfield coach and hitting assistant. He also set defensive alignment and coached first base for the Hawkeyes.

Prior to the 2023 season with Iowa, Boe spent two seasons as an assistant coach for Valparaiso, where he was the team’s infield and baserunning instructor while also coaching third base for the Beacons.

Boe played at Iowa from 2016-19, appearing in 193 career games, tied for the ninth-most all-time in school history. He tallied 144 hits, 28 doubles, 72 RBIs and 21 stolen bases for the Hawkeyes. Boe served as a team captain as a senior and was Iowa’s Big Ten Sportsmanship recipient in 2019.

The Naperville, Illinois, native, helped Iowa to a silver medal at the World University Games, a Big Ten Tournament championship, and an NCAA Regional appearance all in 2017.
