IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa freshman Ben Kueter has been named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the league office. The honor is the first of his career.
The Iowa City, Iowa, native earned the distinction after upsetting 11th-ranked Konner Doucet of Oklahoma State, 5-1, to help the Hawkeyes hand No. 2 Oklahoma State its first loss, 22-9. Kueter used a third period reversal and back points to secure the win.
Kueter is the second Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors this season. Gabe Arnold was named Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 29.
Iowa returns to action on March 9-10 at the Big Ten Championships in College Park, Maryland.
