2022 Honors — Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on April 27. 2022 — Went 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in eight starts (16 appearances)… had 49 strikeouts to 19 walks over 41 2/3 innings… missed two starts — at Frisco Classic (3/5), at UC Irvine (3/13) — because of shoulder soreness… tossed two shutout innings, fanning four to earn a save in a Big Ten Tournament win over Michigan (5/28)… went back to the bullpen in the Indiana series (5/19-21)… named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on April 27 after pitching eight shutout innings in road win at No. 8 Rutgers (4/23)… retired 24 of the 27 batters he faced in eight innings, allowing two hits, walking one and fanning six… needed just 85 pitches to tie his career long outing… logged 4 2/3 innings against Minnesota (4/16), allowing one run on four hits and fanning five… made his third start, logging one inning (needing just five pitches) in win at Milwaukee (4/12)… logged three innings in relief against Illinois (4/9), allowing one run on one hit and striking out a pair… fanned five of three innings in relief against No. 12 Texas Tech (3/19)… allowed one run on two hits and fanned seven without walking a batter in a no-decision at Texas A&M Corpus Christi (2/26)… made his first start as a Hawkeye, tossing four innings, allowing one run on two hits and fanning nine in an 11-1 win over Ball State (2/19)… tallied his 200th career collegiate strikeout in the start.

At Butler (2021) — Weekend starter… went 2-5 on the mound with a 6.22 ERA… threw 46 1/3 innings over nine starts… threw one complete game… struck out 53 batters and only walked 11… ranked second in the BIG EAST in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.82)… ranked third in the conference in walks allowed per nine innings (2.14)… gave up 58 hits, resulting in 35 runs (32 ER)… struck out 10 batters over six innings at Evansville without walking a batter (3/19)… matched his season-high strikeout total with 10 vs. Valpo in his next start (3/26)… earned the win vs. Seton Hall with eight strikeouts over seven full innings of action (4/10)… picked up the win at Xavier with five strikeouts over seven innings (4/17)… topped 100 pitches in five of his nine starts… threw 6.0 or more innings in five starts.

At Butler (2019) — 2019 All-BIG EAST First Team selection… ranked second in the BIG EAST and 44th in the NCAA in ERA (2.29)… ranked third in the BIG EAST in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.76)… two-time BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week (3/25, 4/15)… started in 13 games… held a 6-1 record on the mound… threw one complete game… struck out 79 batters in 78 2/3 innings… only walked 21 batters… limited opponents to a .233 average and just 20 earned runs… struck out seven batters over five innings in his season debut vs. Rider (Feb. 16)… struck out a season-high 10 batters in six innings vs. Hofstra (March 3)… limited Valparaiso to just two hits over eight frames while striking out seven and only walking one (March 24)… shut out Creighton over eight full innings with seven strikeouts (April 13)… tossed eight innings at Seton Hall with seven strikeouts and one walk (April 27)… struck out nine batters and only walked one over seven innings vs. Villanova (May 5).

At Butler (2018) — Made 16 total appearances with one start… ended the year with a 3-2 record… held a 4.46 ERA… struck out 35 batters in 36 1/3 innings of action… limited the opposition to 43 hits… only walked 12… made two saves… first save came in his first appearance vs. Lehigh (Feb. 17)… threw three innings, striking out five batters… struck out three and only allowed one hit over three innings vs. George Mason to get the win (Feb. 24)… struck out four batters in 4 1/3 innings of work vs. Fort Wayne (March 11)… limited the Mastodons to just one hit to earn his second win… lone start came at home vs. Miami Ohio (April 25)… struck out five batters in four full innings of action… second save of the year was recorded vs. Xavier (May 5)… limited Georgetown to just one run off four hits in 4.1 innings of action (May 11).

High School — Earned three varsity letters in baseball at Cedar Falls… pitched 43 innings during his senior year… struck out 49 batters while allowing just nine walks… held a 2.35 ERA his junior season with 34 strikeouts in 47 innings pitched… held opponents to a batting average of .249 his senior season… named Team Defensive Player of the Year and team captain… received the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement… four-year honor roll student… played club baseball for Perfect Game Iowa Select.

Personal:  Born Feb. 12, 1999, in Allentown, Pennsylvania… son of Steve and Deanna Schultz… has two older siblings, Hayden and Tegan… father played collegiate football to South Dakota State… grandfather, John Schultz, played collegiate basketball at Minnesota State… cousins Ella Foti (volleyball, Marquette), Sammy Foti (volleyball, Xavier) and aunt Brenda Schultz (volleyball, North Dakota State)… majoring in informatics.
