Colegate joined the Hawkeyes in 2023 as director of player development before transitioning to director of special projects.
Iowa won 44 games – tied for the most wins in a single season in program history – in 2023. The Hawkeyes finished third in the regular season with a 15-8 record, while advancing to the Big Ten Tournament final. The Hawkeyes qualified for their eighth Big Ten Tournament under head coach Rick Heller. Iowa made its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2017, winning two games at the Terre Haute Regional.
Colegate served as the pitching coach for the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods Leauge in 2021.
Colegate also previously served as the pitching coach for the Ottawa Spirit developmental team.
The Dayton, Ohio native played collegiate ball at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.
He was drafted in the 36th round of the 2015 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians and spent 4 years playing professionally within the Indians and Padres organizations.
