Post-Season Softball!

May 8, 2005

Coach Gayle Blevins’ nationally ranked Iowa softball team will meet Penn State in Game 3 of the 2005 Big Ten Conference Softball Tournament at 11 a.m. (Iowa time) Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Michigan Wolverines – the league’s regular season champion – will play host for the Big Ten’s post-season tournament for the eighth time in 11 years.

Iowa, the No. 3 seed behind Michigan and Northwestern, defeated Penn State twice during the regular season. The Hawkeyes recorded 3-1 and 5-1 victories in a doubleheader played April 17 in University Park, Pa.

The winner of Game 3 will play the winner of Game 1 featuring Northwestern and No. 7 seed Purdue. That game will be played at 4 p.m. (Iowa time), Thursday, the first day of action in the 2005 leage tournament that determines the Big Ten’s automatic qualifier for the 2005 NCAA Division I Softball Championship. The loser of Game 3 is eliminated.
