MADISON, WI – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team competed Saturday in the second day of the Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, WI. All matches were played at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Today, the Hawkeyes faced Wisconsin, Minnesota and Drake in a mixture of singles and doubles matches. In singles, Iowa pulled together four wins. Sophomore Bart van Monsjou went undefeated again today, beating Edlefsen of Minnesota, 6-3, 1-6, 10-4.improving his record for the weekend to 3-0. Senior Brett Taylor and freshmen Zach Frisch and Christian Bierich also collected wins. Taylor and Frisch went 1-0, while Bierich went 1-1 for the day. In doubles, the Hawkeyes snagged five wins. The team of freshman Greg Holm and Bierich defeated teams from Drake and Minnesota. Their only loss for the day was against the team of Phippen and Hodgson of Wisconsin. The Hawkeye team of senior Aaron Schaechterle and von Monsjou also went 2-1 for the day, defeating teams from Wisconsin and Drake, but loosing to Minnesota. Sunday will be the final day of competition at the Wisconsin Invitational. Matches will begin at 9 a.m. at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
