THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s golf team will travel to Memphis, TN, to compete in the Memphis Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday. Competition will consist of 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. Play will begin both days at 8 a.m. Monday will be a shotgun start and there will be tee times at holes one and ten Tuesday.

THE COURSE — This week’s tournament will be played on the Colonial County Club’s South Course. The 7,249-yard course is a par 72. The course, designed by Joe Finger, features bent grass greens, bermuda grass fairways and rough, and water hazards come into play on several holes.

PREVIOUS COMPETITION — Memphis is the two-time defending champion of this tournament. Iowa tied for fourth last year and placed 13th in 2004.

LAST TIME OUT — Iowa finished the Wolverine Intercollegiate in eighth place with a score of 869. Senior Jon Feldick and junior Dan Holterhaus both carded a 217 and finished tied for 23rd.

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 14th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004.

QUOTING COACH ANDERSON — “We are looking forward to playing this week. Colonial Country Club is a great course and venue. We’ll be facing a tough field with a lot of southern schools. It will give us a chance to see how good we really are.”
