Ten Questions With Kadi Sickel

Sept. 27, 2006

Iowa City, IA –

1. Which game during your career is most memorable for you?
The Michigan game my freshman year. We were losing 3-0 and in the second half we scored 3 goals within 6 minutes to tie it up. We went into overtime and I scored the game winning goal off a corner from Heather Schnepf. The game was also the 100th victory on Grant field.

2. Who is your funniest teammate?
Lindsey Duffy, she has a very laid back personality and dry sense of humor…she can say almost any ridiculous thing with a straight face and be serious, its quite a talent.

3. Who is the funniest coach on Iowa’s staff?
They’re all very funny in different ways, but the funniest would have to be my head coach. Tracey is goofy funny, she likes to make corny jokes that you laugh at at first because they are obvious and so you’re kinda just playing along and then they really end up being funny and you cant explain it, but you end up laughing really hard.

4. What’s the difference between Big 10 Conference play and out of conference play?
The biggest difference between Big Ten Conference play and out of conference play would have to be the style of the game. As a whole our conference plays a more structured system.

5. Who is the cleanest/most organized teammate?
Adrienne, she’s always very organized and neat. In the dorm her desk was always in the same condition, nothing out of place. Also she travels with a clipboard so that she can write very tidy homework assignments. She’s the only person I’ve ever seen own or use a clipboard since I left the 5th grade.

6. What is your most memorable moment so far during this season?
My most memorable moment so far this season would have to be our game against Providence. It was against my sister on her home field, they were undefeated at the time and we had about 80 people including relatives, past coaches, and my high schools current Varsity and JV field hockey team drive down to see the game. We won the game 1-0 and I beat my older sister, which she loved…

7. What do you miss the most about New Hampshire that you don’t/can’t have in Iowa City?
I miss my family the most. I am very close with my siblings and my parents never missed a game until I came out to Iowa City. Though its tough not to have them around all the time they are very supportive and we always make the most of the time we get to spend together.

8. What is your favorite class you have taken while at Iowa?
Playwriting and Ballroom Dancing. I took playwriting as an elective and now I’m a theatre Major, so I guess you could say it helped me find out what I wanted to do after Hockey. And Ballroom Dancing because everybody should know how to dance fancy and now I do.

9. Who has influenced you most throughout your life?
My older sister Lauren. She was my hero growing up and still is. She’s the best athlete I know and can do anything the first time she tries it. It usually takes me about a 1000 times. I spent most of my youth trying to keep up with her and she has pushed me to become the athlete that I am today.

10. If you could pick one person on your team to run the county who would it be and why?
Caroline because she always sees the good in people and finds a positive outlook in almost any situation. More people should see the world as she does. I mostly tell her she’s crazy though.
