Four Hawkeyes Named To NFHCA West Region All-America Team

IOWA CITY –

Four members of the Iowa field hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association West Region all-America team today. Senior Heather Schnepf and junior Kadi Sickel were named to the first team, while sophomore Lauren Pfeiffer and freshman Meghan Beamesderfer were named to the second team.

This marks the third time Schnepf, a back from Medford Lakes, NJ, is an NFHCA West Region all-American selection. Schnepf was also named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, a unanimous first team all-Big Ten and, all-Big Ten Tournament team pick she was also selected to play in the Division I all-star game.

Sickel, a back from Plaistow, NH, was named to the NFHCA West Region all-America team for the first time in her career. Sickel was also a second team all-Big Ten selection. She is a member of Iowa’s offensive penalty corner unit and led the team in assists with 12.

Pfeiffer, a second team selection, is a midfielder from Mt. Laurel, N.J. She scored five goals in three days on her way to being named Big Ten Tournament MVP and National Player of the Week by NationalFieldHockey.com. Pfeiffer ended the season tied for the team lead in goals scored with ten (Caitlin McCurdy).

The Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Beamesderfer is a back from Lititz, PA, and a second team selection. She played outstanding defense and was the flyer on our penalty corner defense.
