IOWA CITY – Head Softball Coach Gayle Blevins has announced that Chelsey Carmody has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa. Carmody is from Pacific, MO and is the third and final member of this year’s recruiting class.
Carmody was recently named the Suburban West Conference Player of the Year and was also a Missouri Class 4A all-state selection. Carmody, who plays shortstop, earned all-conference honors in 2005 and 2006. She was named to both the St. Louis all-Metro and Missouri all-State teams as a junior and senior while leading her team to a third place finish at the state tournament in 2005. Carmody holds school career records for runs scored, total hits, singles, total bases, batting average and on base percentage.
Carmody is also a member of the ASA affiliated St. Louis Chaos. In 2005, the Chaos placed 17th out of 115 teams at the national tournament and 25th out of 144 teams at the 2006 tournament.

Her instincts on the field are remarkable and she brings a contagious enthusiasm to the field, which makes her a great match for Iowa.”
