IOWA CITY – University of Iowa baseball player Ben Geelan was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 7 team. Geelan is now eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America team.
Geelan, from Algona, IA, carries a 3.39 GPA and is double majoring in Political Science and Heath & Sports Studies. He has played in 31 games this year and started 25 behind the plate. He has 18 hits, four doubles, a home run and 17 RBIs.
“We are very proud of Ben and what he has accomplished,” Iowa baseball coach Jack Dahm said. “We have always stressed hard work both on and off the field, and it’s great to see Ben recognized for what he has done both in the classroom and on the diamond.”
