McGlaughlin Named Academic All-District

IOWA CITY – Sophomore Colleen McGlaughlin has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America District VII softball team. McGlaughlin is now eligible to be named an academic all-American.

McGlaughlin is majoring in actuarial science and has received numerous academic honors in her two years at Iowa. She is a Presidential Scholarship recipient and was both an NFCA Academic all-American and an Iowa Presidential Committee on Athletics award winner.

The Morton, IL native currently leads the team with 15 doubles and is second on the team with a .337 batting average. McGlaughlin also has three home runs and 26 RBI. She has started all 57 games, including 23 games at second base, 19 at third base, 13 in left field and one at both shortstop and in right field.

Iowa takes on Purdue in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament Friday at 1:30 p.m. Fans can listen to the game live via www.hawkeyesports.com.
