Hawkeye Softball Announces Coaches Clinic

Nov. 13, 2007

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa softball team will host its annual Coaches Clinic Feb. 2, 2008. The clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Bubble, adjacent to the University of Iowa Recreation Building.

Head Coach Gayle Blevins and her staff along with guest clinician John Tschida will conduct numerous sessions during the day. Tschida is regarded among the elite coaches in NCAA softball and has led the University of St. Thomas (MN) to two-consecutive Division III national championships. His coaching staff was named the Division III NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2004 and 2005.

The clinic will feature four primary sessions that will be followed by breakout sessions focused on hitting, pitching, fielding, baserunning, signal systems, strength training and mental exercises.

“We are excited to offer our annual Coaches Clinic,” Blevins said. “We also welcome back John Tschida who brings a wealth of knowledge and ideas to share with all present. This year’s format will be a little different in order to meet the needs of the many coaches who attend. There will be primary sessions followed by breakout sessions which will allow coaches to choose the material and level of presentation that best fits their needs. We feel confident coaches in attendance will be very happy with the new format.” Pre-registration cost is $65 for coaches and $20 for students. Pre-registered coaches will receive a clinic notebook, notes and lunch. On-site registration is $70 for coaches and $25 for students and will receive clinic notes.
