January 4, 2008

IOWA CITY – The UI Athletics Ticket Office has one piece of advice for fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes planning on attending the wrestling meet Jan. 5 between the No. 1 ranked Hawkeyes and nationally ranked Oklahoma State: Purchase your tickets in advance of match day.

The UI Athletics Department has already sold almost 9,500 tickets for the first home dual meet of 2008 for Coach Tom Brands’ undefeated and top-ranked squad. It expects sales to continue at a brisk pace through 5 p.m., Friday.

The UI Athletic Ticket Office will open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets will be available for purchase over-the-counter at the North, South and West entrances of Carver.

Fans attending the event are also encouraged to “Be Bold, Wear Gold.”

The UI Athletics Department has already sold almost 9,500 tickets for the first home dual meet of 2008 for Coach Tom Brands’ undefeated and top-ranked squad.

“We expect very strong interest in this event and our suggestion is to buy in advance if you are planning on being in attendance,” said Jess Rickertsen, assistant director of the UI Athletics Ticket Office. The dual meet is scheduled to start shortly after 7 p.m. in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

In addition to guaranteeing yourself a reserved seat in Carver-Hawkeye, the cost of ticket purchased in advance is less than those purchased on match night. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $4 for youth when purchased in advance. The prices increase to $10 and $5 – if available – on match night.

Tickets can be purchased online at hawkeyesports.com by clicking HERE, over the telephone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS, and at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye.

Fans making their purchase online today will have the option of printing their tickets at home or to pick up their tickets at the Will Call windows at Carver. However, UI officials are encouraging fans to use the print-at-home option to avoid waiting in lines at the Arena.

Oklahoma State is currently ranked ninth nationally. The Cowboys have won the last eight meetings between the two teams and hold a 24-16-1 advantage in the series.
